Pledge Video Contest Information

Welcome to the video contest to help support the Pledge to Idaho's Children.

Here you will find the necessary information to register for the contest, rules and content instruction.

The goal of your videos is to help convince people to sign the Pledge to Idaho's Children. Please make sure to read the pledge so you are familiar with its content.

The idea behind the video is to explain why the pledge is important and why people should sign it now.

Contest starts: February 20th  Content ends: March 30th

Prizes:
First Prize$500 cash
Second Prize$300 cash
Third Prize$200 cash

Awarded to the top 3 videos that best convey why every Idahoan should sign the pledge to children, in an effective and unique way, as judged by our panel.

A People's Choice recognition will be made to a video based on the most "likes" on the entrant's YouTube page.

Eligibility: Idaho students age 19 and under.

Video Rules:

  • Video should be based on the Pledge to Idaho's Children
  • Should appeal to Idahoans of all ages.
  • Video should be 1-2 minutes in length.
  • Register here prior to submitting the video.

Instructions to submit your entry:


  1. Fill in the online registration here.
  2. Download and complete the forms here. These will be necessary to accept your entry.
  3. Shoot and edit your video.
  4. Obtain releases from all people in the video as well as all locations where video was taken. See the forms for details on what is required.
  5. Upload the finished video to YouTube under your own YouTube account.
  6. In the comments section of your YouTube video submission, add a link to the Pledge at www.pledgetoidahoschildren.org. It should be a live link that people can click on to visit the pledge signature page. [Example]
  7. Send an email to us once your video is uploaded and available and the pledge link is in place. We will acknowledge your entry.
  8. Entries must be uploaded by Midnight, March 30, 2012.

Judging of Entries:

  • Top 10 finalists to be notified via email.
    1. Each finalist must supply high resolution format of their video on a flash or thumb drive.
    2. All appropriate release forms for locations, people and video must be submitted to IVC at 314 S. 9th Street, Boise, ID 83712. [map]
    3. Include your print registration form and be sure to write down your YouTube video link.
  • Encourage your family and friends to view your entry, sign the pledge and click on the "Thumbs Up" icon to like your video.
  • Post it on your Facebook page and share it with IdahoVoices Facebook page.
  • Our panel of judges will evaluate all entries and determine the top 10 and then the top 3 winners, based on:
    1. The effectiveness of the message.
    2. The clarity of the "call to action" to sign the Pledge to Idaho's Children.
    3. Creativity.

Videos will be used by IVC in promoting our Idaho's Pledge to all of our Children campaign in various media.

Panel of Judges

These are the people who are volunteering to judge the video entries.

Heather Ray She grew up in Idaho and has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry as a producer, director, cinematographer and actress in independent films. She was the Director of the Native American Program for the Sundance Institute from 1995 to 2001. Some of her many movies are Frozen River, First Circle, Independent Lens, Backroads, and Apache 8.
Michael Gough He is the owner of MDG Films, LLC and he has worked as a producer, cinematographer, and director. His film, Autumn Angel became the only independent film to sell out the Egyptian Theater. Other films as a cinematographer include Dying Famous, All Night, and America's Core. He studied Mass Communication at BSU and lives in Boise Idaho.
Glida Bothwell She has been involved with filmmaking for over 20 years, acting, writing, directing, wardrobe, make-up and production. In 2010 she worked on a film called "myface" made by "Reel Women of the West" which won first place in the i48 film contest. Glida is a self-made film critic and loves watching classic, independent, and contemporary films. She is a member of Idaho Media Professionals, and Reel Women of the West
Vikki Miller She is the Market President for US Bank in Boise for the past 18 years. She is married with 2 kids who are her world and who keep her very active. She loves photography and running (completed Robbie Creek, Famous Potato and the Dirty Dash half marathons). She is an active community volunteer with the Eagle Chamber of Commerce, Idaho Voices for Children, the Landing Community Center, the WCA and she was awarded the TWIN award in 2011.
Vince Trimboli He is the Community Relations Supervisor for the City of Boise Public Works. He graduated from the University of Montana with a BA in journalism, broadcasting and history. He has been the sports director/anchor at KBCI Channel 2, a news reporter, production director, a feature writer and even interned for the Dallas Cowboys.
Chris Volk He is a successful tech entrepreneur and a seasoned communications professional with many years of experience and a passion for marketing and PR. He is a great volunteer in the community and he received his education at The University of Montana and attended the National Outdoor Leadership School.

Contest Forms

(All forms are mandatory and must be completed when turning in your video.)

Printed Registration Form Make sure you print this out and complete it accurately. Make sure to include your YouT ube video link.
Model Release Required to be filled out and signed by all people who can be seen in your video (blurry or incomplete face people need not fill one out). It is best to do this at the time of filming.
Location Release Required to be filled out by owners of the locations included in your video. This form must be completed by the property owners and not the photographers.
Photographer License This document is to be filled out and signed by the owner of the video agreeing to release the rights for distribution to Idaho Voices for Children.
